Description |
The field of education is the only profession that trains those who will serve in all other professions.
The Secondary Education major at Arizona Christian University is designed with this idea in mind. God's Word and His Truths are foundational in all course work and the Arizona Professional Teaching Standards are addressed throughout the program of study. ACU Secondary Education graduates leave the institution ready to teach in their area of specialty and are in great demand locally and abroad.
In addition to a diploma at graduation, Arizona Christian University education students also receive:
• Arizona State Certification
• ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) Certification.
They are prepared, qualified, and certified to begin their teaching careers on the day they leave here.
Graduates from the Education Department will:
• Be able to discuss the history, trends, and philosophies of education and formulate a Christian philosophy of education.
• Comprehend and apply general and subject matter content.
• Organize curriculum according to Arizona State Standards, plan and implement instruction and assess learning resulting from instruction.
• Organize the learning environment appropriate to stages of child development and implement appropriate educational strategies.
• Have practical experience in observation, mentoring, and student teaching.
• Demonstrate professional development including self-assessment and the ability to collaborate effectively with professional colleagues, parents, and community leaders.
• Acquire State and ACSI teaching credentials.
• Use technology as an instructional tool and to create a professional online portfolio. |
