Description The music department at Great Lakes Christian College seeks to encourage the student to cultivate musical skills and talent. Students are given opportunities to understand, appreciate, and utilize a variety of musical forms in several different contexts—worship, public performance, and for private enjoyment. Two tracks available to students depending on their career interests and goals. The performance track is designed for students who, in addition to music ministry interests, may further their education beyond undergraduate work. It is broad and skill oriented, mirroring the requirements of a music major in most colleges and universities. The worship track is designed for students with interest in working within a local church in worship and music ministry, is practical and ministry focused, and reflects the needs of the church musician for the 21st century. Graduates completing this degree will be able to: Organize and direct music and/or worship ministry in the church; Demonstrate proficiency in an area of performance or worship; Exhibit competency in the areas of music theory, music history, and conducting; Display leadership skills in developing musical talent and skills in the lives of others.
